The History of FIF

Conceived in 1999 over coffee at a motorway service station by two of the most experienced professionals in the Scottish Asset Finance scene, First Independent Finance Ltd has in nine years grown from a small provincial broker to the UK’s largest provider of asset finance.

These nine years have seen a multitude of changes - three moves to increasingly larger premises, Investors in People recognition, Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire Awards for Best Performing Business two years in a row!! (under 25 employee category in 2003/ 04, followed by the 25 to 250 employee category in 2004/ 05) and further finalist positions in skills and learning and creativity and innovation awards.

First Independent Finance Ltd is the only broker to have developed a computer system to enable our 33 field consultants covering the UK to provide their customers with a fast and professional solution to their funding requirements.

Our whole ethos is based on Trust, Support and Choice whereby we help our customers make confident choices involving decisions which can have a far reaching and lasting effect on the future of their businesses.

Our customers range from sole traders to public quoted companies and with a choice of over 20 different funders you can be sure that with First Independent Finance Ltd’s expert guidance you will be well placed to make the correct decision whatever your financial requirements

As one might expect from a company with Investors in People, First Independent Finance Ltd takes training very seriously, with internal staff being encouraged to undertake qualifications such as HND’s in Administration, Accountancy, and IT. And all our internal staff have NVQ’s in customer service.
